A 25-year-old school clerk, Chiedza Chidaya, has been sentenced to two years in prison by the Hwange Magistrates’ Court for fraud and theft of trust property involving school fees.

According to court records, Chiedza Chidaya committed the offences between May 2024 and August 2025 while employed at Detema Secondary School.

She used a discontinued 2018 receipt book to illegally receipt USD322 in school fees and failed to remit the funds to the school board or deposit them in the bank.

In a separate count of fraud, Chidaya receipted USD2,441 in fees but recorded only USD556 on the official carbon copies, converting USD1,885 to her own use.

The offences were uncovered during a school audit in July 2025, leading to her arrest and subsequent conviction.
