Zimbabwe delivered a clinical all-round performance to overwhelm Sri Lanka by 67 runs in the second T20I of the tri-series in Rawalpindi, Pakistan yesterday, with Brad Evans’ brilliant death bowling stealing the show.
Evans finished with superb figures of 3 for 9, mopping up the tail and ensuring Sri Lanka were bowled out for 95, while Richard Ngarava added 2 for 15 to complete a ruthless bowling display.
Sent in, Zimbabwe set a competitive 162 for 8 thanks to an authoritative 47 off 32 balls from Sikandar Raza, who anchored a 61-run partnership with opener Brian Bennett, who matched his previous knock of 49. Ryan Burl injected late fire with a quick 18 off 11 balls, including two towering sixes.
Sri Lanka’s chase never gained momentum. Early strikes from Ngarava and Tinotenda Maposa removed key batsmen, while a disastrous run-out in the seventh over further derailed their innings.
Captain Dasun Shanaka’s 34 off 25 balls offered brief resistance, but Zimbabwe’s disciplined attack, led by Evans and Raza, ensured no comeback was possible.
