Mpopoma Sports Academy (Mposa) sent a loud message across the continent after crushing Namibia’s OT Jiwarongo Sports Academy 12–nil in their opening match of the CAF Under-17 Girls Tournament at Ngoni Stadium on Monday.
The dominant win lifted MPOSA to the top of their group, edging ahead of South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns on goal difference. Sundowns also bagged three points after a 3–1 victory over Malawi’s Luwinga Academy.
Speaking after the match, MPOSA coach Evans Netha described the performance as a powerful statement of intent, saying his girls are in the tournament to compete at the highest level.
“This victory sends a message. We are here to compete at the highest level, and we want every team to feel our presence,” Netha told reporters.
MPOSA return to action on Thursday at 3pm, when they take on Luwinga Academy in their second group match.
