The 21st edition of the Mustard Seed Communities Christmas Party in Bulawayo showcased the skills and talents of vulnerable children, with some presenting income-generation projects such as beading and poultry production aimed at promoting sustainability.

Speaking to Skyz Metro FM, Mustard Seed Communities Executive Administrator Takawira Promise Singadi said the annual Christmas party is organised to ensure that vulnerable and disadvantaged children are included during the festive season.

“This event is meant to make sure that no child feels left out during Christmas. It is a time for celebration, love and reminding these children that they matter,” said Singadi.

He said Mustard Seed Communities runs three key programmes designed to support children throughout the year, focusing on both welfare and long-term development.

“We operate a children’s home, a nutrition programme, and an income-generation programme. These initiatives help the children build confidence while also equipping them with practical skills that can sustain them in the future,” he said.

Singadi noted that the income-generation projects allow children to learn the value of hard work while gaining hands-on experience in activities that can generate income.

He also used the occasion to encourage young people to remain focused and avoid drug abuse, stressing the importance of education.

“Education is very important. We urge young people to work hard, stay disciplined and avoid drugs so that they can grow into responsible citizens who contribute positively to society,” he said.
