Outstanding Creative Media and Arts Support award winner Kudakwashe Takundwa says his recognition at the Pumula Royal Arts and Community Awards (PRACA) reflects more than a decade of commitment to the creative sector.

Speaking after receiving the accolade, Takundwa said the award was particularly meaningful as it marked the first individual honour he has received in his twelve years of work under Culture Mag.

“This award means a lot to me because it is the first individual recognition I have received in the twelve years that I have been working under Culture Mag,” he said.

Takundwa said Culture Mag has grown into a key platform for arts and culture storytelling, helping to amplify voices within the creative industry.

“Over the years, Culture Mag has become a go-to platform for arts and culture storytelling, giving creatives a space to be seen, heard and appreciated,” he said.

He highlighted the importance of the creative sector in shaping culture and national identity, noting that storytelling allows communities to define themselves in their own voice.

“The creative sector plays a very important role in shaping our culture and national identity because it allows communities to tell their own stories in authentic ways,” Takundwa said.

Looking ahead, he said he plans to launch a podcast focused on arts conversations and music reviews as part of continued efforts to support and grow the industry.

“We are working on launching a podcast that will focus on arts conversations and music reviews as a way of continuing to support and grow the creative industry,” he said.
