Zimbabwe’s Acting President Colonel (Rtd) Kembo Mohadi says the newly completed Harare Zimbabwe Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is “a magnificent place” that inspires reflection and spiritual closeness to the Almighty.
Speaking after an open house visit on Wednesday, Acting President Mohadi, described the experience as uplifting, saying even those who are not Christians can feel “closer to the Almighty.” He added that he hopes to return to meditate and pray in the future.
On government and church relations, Mohadi highlighted long-standing collaboration across denominations.
“The Church and the government have always worked together. They look after the spiritual side of the human being, we look after the social side. We always complement each other, and we will continue to do so,” he said, noting that this partnership dates back to missionary days and continues across denominations today.
He emphasized that regardless of faith, the central focus remains on serving God and Jesus Christ.
The Harare Zimbabwe Temple, which took five years to construct, will welcome the public for tours from January 22 to February 7. Members of all faiths are invited to attend the open house.
