Police in Bulawayo have appealed to the public for information that may lead to the location of a two year old child who was abducted yesterday at around 10AM.

Speaking to SkyzMetro FM, Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Nomalanga Msebele said the two-year-old child, Asanda Charisma Ndhlovu, was abducted yesterday at Miekles Market, where her mother who works at the market, had been serving a customer when an unidentified man stole her child.

“The child was abducted, at Miekles market where her mother, who works there was serving a customer, then an unidentified man picked her up,” said Msebele.

The mother later requested CCTV footage, which showed the suspect leaving the premises downstairs with the child.

“Her mother then requested CCTV footage, which showed the suspect leaving the premises with the child,” Msebele said.

Asanda’s aunt told SkyzMetro FM that the parents are devastated and appealed for the circulation of the missing person notice to help ensure that their child is found.

“Asanda’s parents are devastated and we are appealing for the public to circulate the missing person’s notice,” said her aunt.

Police have since appealed to the public to report any suspicious individuals, particularly in cases where they suddenly hear a crying child. Meanwhile Msebele also alluded to another missing child from Parklands who has not yet been found, this has raised serious concerns over the abduction of children in Bulawayo.

Police say the suspect has not yet been identified and investigations are ongoing.
