Zimbabwe says its 2026 National Budget is designed to protect economic stability and widen the tax base, as government pushes toward Vision 2030.
Speaking at the 6th Annual Tax Review Breakfast Meeting yesterday, Finance Minister Professor Mthuli Ncube said inflation stands at 4.1 percent, the exchange rate remains stable, and investor confidence is improving. He said the new budget will focus on growing domestic revenue and reducing reliance on borrowing.
Key measures include a Digital Services Tax targeting online businesses and a Property Levy aimed at strengthening local authorities. Government also plans to expand digital systems to improve compliance among small and informal businesses.
Revenue from the Health Promotion Levy, according to the Minister, is supporting improvements in cancer treatment, maternal care, and critical hospital units.
Authorities say efforts to curb tax evasion will be strengthened through updated laws and improved data systems.
