The Vatican has declined an invitation from former United States President Donald Trump for Pope Leo the Fourteenth to join a proposed “Board of Peace”, a move with potential implications for global diplomacy and conflict resolution.

In a statement, the Vatican’s Secretary of State, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, said the Holy See would not participate, stressing that the United Nations remains the primary body responsible for managing international crises.

The proposed board, reportedly chaired by Trump, was initially aimed at supporting Gaza’s reconstruction but has since broadened to include other global conflicts, including Ukraine.

Political analysts say the decision signals a diplomatic distance between the Vatican and the former US administration.
