Mabena Family Dismisses Claims of Princess Being Given as Gift at Imiklomelo ka Dakamela

Members of the Mabena family have dismissed claims that Princess Andile Mabena of the Manala-Mgibe Royal Family from the Ndebele Kingdom was presented as a gift to Chief Dakamela during the Imiklomelo ka Dakamela Awards.

Speaking to SkyzMetro Fm on behalf of the family, Blessing Mabena said the princess had accompanied them to showcase her talent as a poet and to perform praises.

“Princess Andile is a poet of the Manala- Mgibe Kingdom who loves poetry so this year we decided to bring her here in Zimbabwe to show her Imiklomelo ka Dakamela,“he said.

The clarification follows widespread social media reports alleging that Chief Dakamela had been presented with a wife at the event.He emphasised that while the family did present gifts to Chief Dakamela, the princess was not the gift.

“We never go empty handed and so we presented a gift to the chief,” he said. Meanwhile, Chief Dakamela also dismissed the claims.
