Residents in Bulawayo are experiencing a widespread interruption of water supplies following a major leak on the city’s raw water pipeline.

According to a notice from the City council, the fault occurred on the Flowserve raw water pipeline, resulting in a significant drop in pumping capacity, down to about 50 percent at the Criterion Water Works.

This has led to reduced water treatment and limited inflows into the city’s distribution reservoirs.

Authorities confirmed that all city areas will be affected by the disruption, with normal water supplies expected to resume once repairs are completed and the pipeline is fully re-pressurised.

Bulawayo City Council have since been deployed to address the leak, and officials have apologised for the inconvenience caused to residents and stakeholders.
