Zimbabwe Cricket says its Cricket Kumusha-Cricket Ekhaya programme has trained 550 participants across the country as part of efforts to grow the sport in rural communities.
The initiative, running between May 2025 and April 2026, trained teachers, community leaders, security sector members and club representatives in coaching, umpiring and scoring.
According to ZC Managing Director Givemore Makoni, the programme is helping communities establish school teams and organise local competitions.
The training was conducted in several provinces including Manicaland, Mashonaland East, Mashonaland Central and Matabeleland South.
ZC says it now plans to expand the programme into more underserved areas while strengthening pathways from community cricket to provincial and national teams.
