The African Development Bank Group has approved a US$4 million grant to support Zimbabwe’s arrears clearance and international re-engagement efforts under the Zimbabwe Arrears Clearance Dialogue Enhancement Project (ZACDEP).

The funding is expected to strengthen reform dialogue and accelerate the country’s debt resolution process as Zimbabwe intensifies efforts to normalise relations with international creditors, unlock new lines of financing and attract foreign investment.

Zimbabwe’s public debt was estimated at approximately US$21.5 billion by the end of 2025, including US$11.7 billion in external debt, highlighting the importance of ongoing engagement with global financial institutions and development partners.

The latest support from the AfDB is seen as a key boost to Zimbabwe’s economic reform and re-engagement agenda aimed at restoring investor confidence and promoting sustainable economic growth.
