Renowned traditional healer and spiritual leader Gogo Chihoro has arrived in Bulawayo ahead of “UMgido Wesintu” cultural dance gathering scheduled for Friday at Woodville Park in Mahatshula.

The free overnight event, which also forms part of Culture Month commemorations, is expected to attract hundreds of attendees, including traditional healers and cultural enthusiasts from Bulawayo and surrounding areas.

Traditional music groups Dziba LeMvula and Elvis Bhebhe are expected to perform during the event.

Organisers have also arranged free transport for attendees from Bulawayo City Hall to the venue and back, as well as complimentary food throughout the night.

Speaking upon her arrival in Bulawayo on Thursday, Gogo Chihoro expressed appreciation for the reception she received from supporters.

“I am happy to be in the City of Kings and Queens. My hope is that people will find help, healing, and guidance during this gathering,” she said.

She also encouraged people facing personal and social challenges to attend the event.

“I ask people facing different challenges in their lives to utilise this opportunity to come for spiritual guidance and uplifting of burdens impacting progress in their lives,” added Gogo Chihoro.

Gogo Chihoro is expected to lead the opening traditional dance ceremony during the overnight gathering, which has generated growing public interest in Bulawayo and other parts of the country.

The ceremony is also intended to provide a space for spiritual reflection, cultural unity, and community support.

Ahead of the event, Gogo Chihoro toured several parts of Bulawayo, including Fifth Avenue Market and the Rank Inn area, where supporters and residents welcomed her arrival.

The event is expected to continue throughout Friday night at Woodville Park shrine in Mahatshula starting at 5pm.

Gogo Chihoro has in recent months become a familiar figure in Bulawayo through regular Saturday spiritual sessions that attract people from across Matabeleland and beyond seeking spiritual guidance and counselling.
