Bulawayo Man Sentenced To 40 Years For Rape Of 4-Year-Old Toddler

A 41-year-old unemployed man from Pumula North has been sentenced to 40 years effective imprisonment by the Western Commonage Regional Magistrates’ Court for the horrific sexual abuse and rape of a four-year-old female toddler.

The incident occurred on 17 May when the convict capitalized on his position as a family friend to visit the victim’s residence. After eating food at the home, he lured the child to his house under the false pretense of buying her snacks as compensation.

Once inside his residence, the offender locked the door and barricaded it with two sofas to prevent entry or escape. He then subjected the defenseless child to a severe aggravated indecent assault and rape, before taking her to the bathroom in an attempt to conceal the crime.

The ordeal was cut short when the victim’s mother arrived, sensed something was wrong, and forced the barricaded door open. Noticing her daughter’s clothing was drastically disarranged, she questioned the traumatized toddler, who disclosed that the man had severely hurt her.

A prompt police report led to a medical examination, which was used as a key exhibit in court to secure the definitive conviction.
