RAJ ESCALATES FIGHT AGAINST SUBSTANCE ABUSE

The Deputy Minister of lndustry and Commerce and also serving Member of Parliament for Bulawayo South Constituency, Rajesh Kumar Modi during the weekend joined Population Health Solutions and Population Services International Zimbabwe in the fight against Gender based Violence, Early Child marriages and substance abuse.

In his adress Raj Modi warned the youth against the use of drugs and addiction noting that drug dealers often target students and make them addicted to dangerous drugs something that he said was hindering a bright future amongst the youths.

He also requested young people to desist from taking drugs but instead resort to sporting activities and also reach out to their parents and guardians if they have problems other than resorting to drugs.

Of note at this event Hon Modi displayed a mobile computer lab which is solar powered which is going to be used by youths in his constituency to up their digital knowledge including graphic designing in a bid to empower them and take them off drugs.

Speaking to our senior reporter Sibonginkosi Maphosa on the sidelines of the event Modi advised the youth to take advantage of the computer lab which will be accessible for free and gain digital knowledge citing that the world is now digital.

Modi supports soccer teams from his constituency and during the weekend he donated football kits, and footballs to various teams.

Hon Modi is contesting in the 2023 harmonised elections for the seat of National Assembly in Bulawayo South constituency.
