Zimbabwe African National Union–Patriotic Front (ZANU PF) has highlighted that they are ready for the upcoming by elections and hope to win more seats in the parliament in next month’s polls.
ZANU PF gained seven National Assembly seats in the December by-elections with the ruling party winning uncontested in Mabvuku-Tafara while they also emerged victorious in Binga North, Bulawayo South, Beitbridge West, Lupane East, Cowdray Park, and Nketa with Citzens Coalition for Change (CCC) party only winning seats in Lobengula-Magwegwe and Mpopoma- Mzilikazi constituencies.
Speaking to SkyzMetro FM in an interview, ZANU PF spokesperson for Bulawayo Province Archie Chiponda said they are confident on winning the upcoming polls.
“We are confident of winning the upcoming polls and have much faith in our contesting candidate for Tshabalala-Phelandaba constituency Joseph Tshuma who has previously served in the National Assembly before”, said Chiponda.
Zimbabwe will hold its By-elections on 3 February for both the National Assembly and Senate seats following recalls that were made by the opposition CCC’s interim secretary general Sengezo Tshabangu back in October last year.
