Rufaro Stadium is expected to be re opened on the 11th of February this year when Harare Giants Dynamos and Caps United clash in the Mayor Cheer Cup at the venue.

Rufaro Stadium has been undergoing refurbishment after last hosting a top flight match in 2019.

Harare Mayor Jacob Mafume revealed that the there has been a lease agreement.

“The council has entered a lease agreement with the two teams which will see them using the Stadium in the upcoming Castle Lager Premiership season as well”,said Mafume.

Mafume further notified that they plan to work with teams.

We plan to work with Dynamos and Caps United to further develop the facilities at Rufaro”, he said.

Mafume also emphasised that the Confederation of African Football (CAF) report did not ask them to destroy the whole Stadium and start afresh hence they are renovating it.

CAF recently condemned the National Sports Stadium and Rufaro Stadium as both unsuitable to host International games meaning Current league champions Ngezi Platinum and Chibuku Champions Dynamos will be forced to play their continental football outside the country.
