52 year old man jailed for attempted murder

A 52 year-old-man Dominic Ncube appeared before the Hwange Magistrates’ Court on attempted murder charges.

The 30 year old complainant is the accused person’s ex-wife. The court heard that on the 18th of October 2023, the accused person confronted the complainant whilst she was working in her field and told her he was against her decision to remarry.

A misunderstanding arose between the two, and the accused person struck the complainant with a stick twice on the back. He tripped her, and when she fell to the ground, he took out two needles from his pocket, which he inserted in her chest and abdomen, and ran away.

The complainant was rescued by her husband, who took her to the Police Station to file a Police report before she was taken to the hospital.

The accused person was convicted and sentenced to 6 years imprisonment, of which 2 years were suspended. He will serve 4 years effectively.
