Bulawayo woman jailed for abusing step-children

A Bulawayo woman who was arraigned before the Western Commonage Magistrates’ Court facing charges of contravening the Children’s Act was convicted and sentenced to one year imprisonment for abusing her step children.
The court heard that on the 11th of June 2024, the accused person (29) assaulted her step-son (5) and step-daughter (3) all over their bodies using an unidentified object.
The second complainant sustained bruises on the neck and body as well as a broken hand.
The accused person was sentenced to 24 months imprisonment of which 5 months was suspended.
