The trial of Taurai Prosper Vanhuvaone, the notorious fake doctor who posed as a medical professional at Mpilo Hospital, was this morning postponed to the 10th of October 2024.

The delay comes after new charges were added to the case, intensifying the legal battle surrounding his repeated deception.

Vanhuvaone, who was out on bail, violated his bail conditions by returning to Mpilo Hospital on September 30, 2024. Despite being barred from the premises, he allegedly interacted with patients during his unauthorized visit, prompting the court to include fresh charges in his already serious docket.

This marks Vanhuvaone’s second arrest for impersonating a doctor. Initially, he operated under the alias Prosper Mpofu, where he was accused of treating patients with unorthodox methods and issuing questionable prescriptions. Complaints from concerned patients and medical staff eventually led to his arrest, exposing the fraudulent scheme.

The postponement of his trial allows the court to address these new allegations, adding to the gravity of Vanhuvaone’s case.
