Trevor Mawaka, a local arts teacher at Charlseton Primary School, has launched a book titled “Curating Byo Music Spaces” which aims to celebrate and document Bulawayo musicians.

“I wanted to document Bulawayo artists so that future generations can learn about their journeys, achievements, and how they overcame obstacles in their music careers,” Mawaka said.

Meanwhile, Director of Centre for Talent Developments, Mr. Thabani Moyo, expressed his dissatisfaction with the Bulawayo community for not always supporting local talents. “I encourage people to free up their busy schedules and attend events where local artists showcase their abilities,” he said.

One of the artists featured in the book, Msiz Kay, expressed gratitude for being part of the project. “I’m thrilled to share my story and music career, which is a significant milestone for me,” he said.

Kinah the Music also felt honored to be included in the book. “It’s my first time being documented, and I’m excited for people to get to know me through the book,” he said.

The book features many Bulawayo artists, including Mzoe 7, MJ Sings, and Kinah the Music. The launch event showcased performances by local artists such as Msiz-kay, Mzoe7, A Safe, M Jay Sings, and more.
