The Bulawayo City Council (BCC) has announced that water supply to all residential areas has been cut off and will remain unavailable until Wednesday, October 16th.

This follows power failures at the city’s pumping and treatment stations due to maintenance work being carried out by the Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution Company (ZETDC).

The water supply was cut off yesterday, and will only resume on Wednesday after the stabilization of the city’s reservoirs. The BCC said reduced raw water pumping is expected to continue until later today until further straining the city’s water supply.

The authority said the suspension of water to residential areas is necessary to prevent a collapse of supply and distribution reservoirs. However, Industry and the Central Business District (CBD) will not be affected.

Residents have been urged to make alternative arrangements, as there will be no water until Wednesday.

The BCC has since apologized for the inconvenience caused by the ongoing water crisis.
