Fraud Alert: Bulawayo City Council Warns of Fake Legal Officer

The Bulawayo City Council (BCC) has issued a warning to residents and businesses regarding a fraudulent scheme involving an individual falsely claiming to be a “Legal Affairs Officer” named Mr. Mhlanga.

This person has allegedly been sending letters to organizations and companies, demanding payment of legal fees, supposedly on behalf of the BCC.

In a public statement, the BCC clarified that no such person exists within its staff, nor does the council have a “Legal Affairs Officer” position. The council urged the public to ignore any communications from this individual and to avoid making any payments, as these demands are part of a scam.

The BCC advises residents and businesses to verify the authenticity of any payment requests and is taking steps to address the issue, aiming to protect the community from further fraudulent activities.
