Zimbabwe is hosting the inaugural Climate and Health Africa Conference (CHAC 2024) from today up to the 31st of October in Harare.

Organized by the Centre for Sexual Health and HIV/AIDS Research Zimbabwe (CeSHHAR) in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment and Tourism, this conference aims to elevate Africa’s role in global discussions on climate change and health.

The event addresses the urgent need to mitigate climate change’s impacts on health, particularly in a continent burdened by climate-sensitive diseases and limited adaptive capacities.

CHAC 2024 seeks to bridge knowledge gaps by showcasing innovative research on climate-health mechanisms, effective adaptation strategies, and the equitable translation of research into policy.

Attendees include researchers, healthcare professionals, experts, and students passionate about climate and health issues. Expected outcomes include scientific publications, a comprehensive African Health and Climate Declaration, action plan blueprints, and announcements of new partnerships and funding commitments.

The conference aims to redefine Africa’s health approach within the context of climate change, enhancing the continent’s resilience and global presence.
