Oasis of Beauty College hosted its inaugural Cultural Arts Festival at the Zimbabwe Music Academy over the weekend, an event aimed to honor, celebrate, and empower the girl child, offering a platform for students to showcase their talents in modeling, poetry, drama, and music.

In an interview with Skyz Metro FM reporters, Ayanda Iyalla from Oasis of Beauty College shared mixed feelings about the event’s success during preparations.

“Towards the end of the preparations l got so overwhelmed and frustrated asking myself if we were going to pull it off but yeah l did learn a lot throughout the whole thing and it was a success”

“Our drama girls got identified and some of our models also got free trainings to continue in that path and that alone is a success and I’m happy. l now know what we can definitely work on to make it better next time” said Iyalla

The judges included Nomatshawekazi Damasane (Lady Tshawe), Arts, Culture, and Heritage Officer at Bulawayo City Council; Ishmael Murangandi (‘The Crown Hunter’), founder of Mr. Teen Zimbabwe; and Taboka Nleya, a Skyz Metro FM radio personality.

Miss Oasis 2024 winner Shinaya Sibanda expressed her excitement, while first runner-up Patience Unganayi shared plans to enter more pageants.

“Honestly I’m overwhelmed, and l feel empowered by this opportunity and I’m very grateful to the school and everyone else who came through to support us and l feel like l can do more at this point and to the girl child out there, never underestimate yourself” said Sibanda.

“I’m so excited for this opportunity, it is just the beginning and I’m looking forward to more pageants and more competition” said Unganayi

The best actresses received an 80% scholarship and training with Lady Tshawe Productions. Nitah S. Mhlanga and Shantel Mutemi, joint winners, celebrated the awards.
