43-year-old Tineyi Chihukura from Manningdale has been arrested for defrauding several individuals by falsely promising them jobs at the Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution Company (ZETDC).
Chihukura appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Nomagugu Maphosa this morning, facing four counts of fraud.
He allegedly tricked his victims by claiming he had connections with hiring officials at ZETDC’s Bulawayo offices. Among his victims was Bhekithemba Tshuma, who paid him USD40. He also convinced 17-year-old Mary Moyo to part with USD70, Buhlebenkosi Nkomo to pay USD40, and Thabani Bhekela to hand over USD40, all in exchange for non-existent job opportunities.
Chihukura pleaded guilty to all charges and will remain in custody until his court appearance on the 20th of November as he is considered a flight risk.
