ZRP Dismisses Fake Press Statement

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has denounced a fake press statement titled “Filming of Tragic Incidents and Legal Action,” which has been circulating on social media. The ZRP confirmed the statement, purportedly issued by an unknown individual, is fraudulent.

Authorities clarified that the signature on the statement does not belong to Commissioner Nyathi, and it was not authorized or issued by the police.

The ZRP has issued a stern warning to individuals or groups fabricating and distributing statements in their name, emphasizing that legal action will be taken against offenders without fear or favor.

The public and media have been urged to disregard the fake statement and treat it with contempt. The ZRP has also called on everyone to verify the authenticity of any press statements before sharing or broadcasting them
