Cowdray Park, once known for high crime rates, reported zero criminal incidents during the recent festive season, while Pumula recorded the highest number of murder cases.
According to Zimbabwe Republic Police Bulawayo acting spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Nomalanga Msebele, the police and Cowdray Park residents have collaborated effectively to curb crime.
“I would like to compliment and thank the residents of Cowdray Park for listening to the police, working hand in hand with us and advising one another. This festive season and New Year we have not recorded any murder cases in Cowdray Park, the neighborhood worked tirelessly, day and night, stopping and searching individuals and as a result, the residents were safe and they managed to catch criminals,” Assistant Inspector said.
“In past years,we have recorded many murder cases and robberies in Cowdray Park, but this New Year,we deployed police and the neighborhood assisted us in apprehending many criminals, which is commendable.I extend my gratitude to you for this outstanding job, as we worked collaboratively with the Cowdraypark neighborhood and residents”, Assistant Inspector Msebele added.
Meanwhile, Pumula reported three murder cases. In the first incident, Master Khabo (46) was killed by his wife, Gugulethu Sibanda (33), over trust issues. The third case saw Kwazinkosi Moyo (27) stab a complainant on December 31 following an altercation.
Assistant Inspector Msebele emphasized the need for stronger collaboration with Pumula residents to combat crime.
“This year, Pumula recorded the highest number of murder cases, three murder cases occurred in Pumula during the festive season and an attempted murder case was also reported in Tshabalala, as a result, the police will be working closely with Pumula residents and the neighborhood to drive out criminals in Bulawayo”, said Assistant Inspector Msebele.
