The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) is appealing to the public to help identify a man, approximately 65 years old, who was struck by a car on the Harare-Bulawayo road.

Bulawayo Police Spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Nomalanga Msebele, reported that the accident occurred at around 00:10 on 11 January 2025. Unknown individuals called for an ambulance, but the man was pronounced dead upon its arrival.

The deceased had no identification, and no relatives have come forward. Assistant Inspector Msebele urged those with missing relatives matching the man’s description to visit the nearest police station.

“The deceased is believed to be around 65 years old. He is described as having a dark complexion, white hair, and was wearing a green raincoat, a black long-sleeved jacket, black trousers, and no shoes. He was discovered walking along the Harare-Bulawayo road and remains unidentified,” said Inspector Msebele.

“We are urging any family members who may be searching for a missing relative matching this description to please contact their nearest police station. We will then arrange for them to view the body to assist in identification and provide some closure,” Inspector Msebele added.

She further emphasized the importance of carrying identification cards while traveling to simplify identification in such cases.

“We searched this man and found no identification,” stated Inspector Msebele. “I urge the public to carry identity cards or any other form of identification when traveling or walking around. In the event of an accident or any other unforeseen circumstance, this will enable us to quickly notify your relatives.”
