Bulawayo Chiefs have appointed veteran coach Maxwell Takaendesa Jongwe as their new head coach, as they prepare for their return to the Division One.

The club parted ways with Thulani Sibanda at the end of December following their relegation from the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League.

Bulawayo Chiefs FC announced the appointment of Jongwe in a statement where they highlighted that Takaendesa holds a CAF A diploma and boasts a wealth of coaching experience, having served as a coaching instructor before.

The club further expressed confidence in Jongwe’s ability to lead them back to the top flight, stating that his experience, passion, and dedication to the sport, will be a great asset to the team, in helping them achieve their goals.

Jongwe brings a wealth of experience to the role. He has previously coached top-flight clubs such as CAPS United, Yadah, and Monomotapa. He also served as the ZIFA technical director until his departure in 2014.
