Pumula South-based producer Pesley Magwaza is bridging the gap for talented musicians who struggle to afford studio sessions. Driven by his passion for nurturing local talent, Magwaza has created a platform for artists who might otherwise be overlooked due to financial constraints.
In an interview with Skyz Metro FM, Magwaza emphasized his commitment to helping aspiring musicians showcase their abilities.
“I just want to bring local talent closer. As a producer, l used to go around neighbourhood to neighbourhood looking for people with something. Some rappers complain that they do not have studio money but they have something to show the world, but they are not given the time. I thought to myself ,”Let me just give these guys a chance for free, and let’s see what happens,” stated Magwaza.
Operating from his “Magwaza Session” studio in Pumula South, he has already collaborated with artists like Flamey K, Uncle Micky, and Gabriel French. The studio’s location was intentionally chosen to make professional recording accessible to the local community.
One such beneficiary, Khulekani Mwinde, also known as MK Lazo, expressed gratitude to Magwaza for allowing him to record without any upfront costs.
“I want to thank Magwaza for allowing us to record our music for free without having to pay any money. You know that as an upcoming artist, money is needed for music. These other studios actually want us to pay, but most of the time, we don’t have the money, so we are grateful to Magwaza for allowing us to record our music, “explained MK Lazo.
Magwaza, a producer and hip-hop artist himself, is familiar with the challenges emerging artists face. His vision extends beyond Pumula South, aiming to elevate local musicians to both national and international stages.
