ZNNP+ Launches Malayitsha Model to Support Zimbabweans Living with HIV Abroad

The Zimbabwe National Network of People Living with HIV (ZNNP+) has introduced a new Differentiated Service Delivery (DSD) model, named Malayitsha, to support Zimbabweans living with HIV who are employed abroad.
Addis Hlomani, a representative of ZNNP+, highlighted that the Zimbabwean government has officially approved the Malayitsha model, which aims to enhance the health and well-being of Zimbabweans working outside the country.
The model enables individuals to receive their HIV medication at their places of employment, even in neighboring countries like South Africa and Botswana. This ensures that workers no longer need to take time off to collect their medication, promoting continuity of care and reducing disruptions to their professional lives.
“The DSD Malayitsha Model system is highly effective and it enables us to deliver medications directly to our beneficiaries, eliminating the need for them to leave their jobs to collect them. This new model ensures they have more time to dedicate to their work and families,” declared Hlomane.
ZNNP+ developed the Malayitsha model in response to challenges faced by its beneficiaries, including missed medication due to work commitments. The organization is focused on providing tailored support to individuals living with HIV who are employed outside Zimbabwe, ensuring they receive consistent care regardless of their location.
