Gwanda Pirates on a Mission to Bring Premier League Football to Mat South

Newly promoted Central Region Division 1 side, Gwanda Pirates, is determined to compete strongly and secure a place in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League, bringing top-flight football to Matabeleland South.
Speaking to Skyz Metro FM, Gwanda Pirates chairman Ququkani Mpofu expressed confidence in the team’s performance, stating their goal is to finish in the top four this season. He also appealed to sponsors to support the club’s ambition of reaching the Premier League.
“The boys are getting there looking at the little time they have been together and the coming in of the new coach whom we feel given more time with the boys our team will be untouchable. I can boldly say we are building the best technical team of Tshisa johanes and Yorum Ngwira. As a team the goal is to finish the league on top 4 on our first year in division one, ” said Mpofu
“The main aim of Gwanda Pirates is to bring PSL here in Matebeleland South , here in Gwanda , we are not just push overs . We are appealing to all business people in Matebeleland South to support us , as we are currently looking for sponsors, which can keep the boys and the team going,” he added.
Gwanda Pirates were recently promoted alongside Mawabeni FC. On Sunday, they played two friendly matches against Highlanders FC, putting up an impressive performance despite narrowly losing both games 1-0.
