The Miss and Mr Rural Matebeleland North pageant is set to take place in Lupane in early May, celebrating rural culture and empowering youth in the region. A pageant that aims to promote confidence and provide a platform for young people to showcase their talents and cultural pride.

Founder Sipho Mazibuko announced that the event will feature contestants from various districts, including Bubi, Binga, Mbembesi, and Nkayi. Due to the high number of contestants, some will be eliminated before the final competition.

. “We have about 45 contestants here today, a fantastic turnout. Now, we’re going to cut that number down. We’re looking to select 20 females and 10 males to move forward. At least this time, we’ve got males! It’s not like last time in Matebeleland South, where we only had three. Three!

“These contestants are from all seven districts. We’ve got representation from Dakamela, Bubi, Binga, Mbembesi, and Nkayi. Each and every district has sent too many representatives, I must say! We’ve got a wonderful mix here. I’ve got Tongas, Nambiyas, Ndebele, and Xhosas. A truly diverse group,” stated Mazibuko

Mazibuko also confirmed that the event will include performances by Insimbi zeZhwane, Seagirl, and Nkayi Challengers, with the UAE Ambassador and other guests expected to attend.

Contestants must have at least five Ordinary Level passes, with some holding Advanced Level qualifications.
