New Era for Zimbabwe Olympic Committee as Dynamic Board Takes Helm

The Zimbabwe Olympic Committee (ZOC) has announced its newly elected and dynamic board, poised to guide Zimbabwean athletes and champion the Olympic spirit. Led by the newly appointed President Thabani Gonye, the board brings together a wealth of experience and a shared passion for sport.

The leadership team includes first Vice President Fredreck Ndlovu, second Vice President Merit Munzwembiri, and Treasurer Mxolisi Ndlovu. They are supported by dedicated board members Tawanda Sithole, Xolisani Gwesela, Lizzie Mupure, Charmaine Chamboko, Abel Chimukoko, Edson Chirowodza, and Abigail Mnikwa.

Adding a crucial athlete’s voice to the leadership is Rudo Neshamba, who takes on the role of Athletes Commission Chair. Working closely with the board to implement their strategic vision is the ZOC’s Chief Executive Officer/Secretary General, Marlene Gadzirayi.

Addressing attendees in the event, International Olympic Committee (IOC) President for Zimbabwe, Dr. Kirsty Coventry emphasized the importance of thorough analysis of the current sporting landscape and the need for collaborative efforts with National Olympic Committees (NOCs) to provide comprehensive support to athletes striving to reach the Olympic Games.

The newly elected board aims to foster a thriving sporting environment and promote the core values of the Olympic movement throughout the nation.
