A wave of violent murders in Sizinda, including two shocking cases where brothers killed their siblings, has prompted residents to organise a Prayer Day to confront the escalating impact of drug and substance abuse.

The event, led by the Combined Churches, Residents, Schools, and other local organisations, is a response to what community leaders describe as a crisis spiralling out of control. The recent killings, both believed to be linked to drug-fueled violence, have shaken the Bulawayo suburb.

Organisers have invited local councillors, Members of Parliament, churches, Ingutsheni Hospital, and the Zimbabwe Republic Police to participate.

The Prayer Day also falls under the Demand Reduction Pillar of Zimbabwe’s anti-drug strategy.
