Hwange FC has ascended to the top of the Southern Region Soccer League standings, taking pole position after former leaders Bulawayo Chiefs suffered a surprising 2-1 defeat to Nkayi United at home.

While Hwange could only manage a 1-1 draw away to Eagle Life, the result was enough to propel them to the summit following Chiefs’ unexpected loss.

The league witnessed several closely contested matches across the region. Bulawayo City fell to a narrow 1-0 defeat at home to Mainline, while Highlanders’ development side, Bosso90, secured a vital 1-0 victory over Imbizo.

Elsewhere, Bulawayo Warriors were edged out 2-1 by Blackrock in a hard-fought match. Ajax Hotspurs Movers also experienced a home defeat, going down 1-0 to Megawatt. Zebra Revolution couldn’t capitalize on their home advantage, losing 2-1 to Casmyn.

Meanwhile, NUST suffered a 2-0 loss at the hands of Vic Falls City Herentals, demonstrating the visitors’ strong form. Talen Vision, on the other hand, comfortably dispatched Jordan with a 2-0 win.
