The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has begun equipping its officers with body worn cameras across the country in a move to modernise law enforcement. The initiative is aimed at increasing accountability, enhancing transparency, and curbing corruption within the force.
This move comes on the heels of the recently launched Smart Traffic Enforcement System in Harare and Bulawayo, which has already resulted in a number of arrests for traffic violations.
Together, these measures signal a broader shift by the ZRP toward technology-driven policing.
Police have emphasized that the body cameras will not only help document interactions between officers and the public but will also strengthen evidence collection, improving overall law enforcement efficiency.
The adoption of advanced technologies in policing reflects Zimbabwe’s commitment to using modern tools to ensure public safety, maintain professional standards, and build greater trust between law enforcement and the communities they serve.
