United States-based Zimbabwean gospel musician Prince Phiri says his music is rooted in spreading hope, healing, and encouragement, as his latest single Uyingcwele Baba continues to gain popularity among gospel music fans.
The song this week climbed to the top of the Skyz Metro FM Gospel Top 10 chart after steadily rising from number four three weeks ago to number two last week before eventually claiming the top spot.
Speaking in an interview with Skyz Metro FM, Phiri said the song was inspired by worship, prayer, and reflection on God’s holiness during difficult times.
“The inspiration behind ‘Uyingcwele Baba’ came from a place of worship, prayer, and reflection on God’s holiness,” said Phiri. “I wanted to create a song that reminds people that no matter what challenges we face in life, God remains holy, faithful, and worthy of praise.”
He added that the song was also influenced by personal experiences and the need for hope and encouragement in communities facing hardships.
“The song was also inspired by personal experiences and seeing how people need hope, healing, and encouragement in these times,” he said.
In addition to Uyingcwele Baba, the musician has also released another single titled Uyeza uJesu, which he described as deeply personal and spiritually significant.
Meanwhile, Phiri said he is currently working on more music, including new singles and a full-length album aimed at uplifting listeners across different backgrounds.
“The goal is to continue releasing music that uplifts, inspires, and connects spiritually with people across different backgrounds,” he said.
Phiri also expressed gratitude for the support he has received from Zimbabwean fans, radio stations, and DJs despite being based in the United States.
“The support from radio stations, DJs, and fans back home has been overwhelming and truly humbling,” he said.
He added that discussions around a possible Zimbabwe homecoming performance and tour are underway, although dates are yet to be confirmed.
“My mission is to use music to spread hope, faith, and encouragement, and I believe this is only the beginning of greater things to come,” said Phiri.
The song is also available on other digital platforms.
