FIFA has been ordered to provide information by the states of New York and New Jersey as part of an investigation into ticket pricing and seat allocation for the 2026 World Cup, following complaints from fans over high costs and seating errors at MetLife Stadium.
The probe is focused on FIFA’s use of dynamic pricing, which adjusts ticket prices based on demand and has reportedly driven costs higher than previous tournaments. Some supporters also claim they paid for premium seats but were later moved to less desirable sections.
New York Attorney General Letitia James and New Jersey Attorney General Jennifer Davenport are seeking detailed records on pricing structures and ticket categories, including a late-added “Front Category” option that may have caused confusion.
MetLife Stadium in New Jersey is set to host eight World Cup matches, including the final.
