Government Condemns Chahwanda Stadium Violence

The Ministry of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture has condemned the violence that led to the abandonment of the Premier Soccer League match between Hard Rock FC and Dynamos FC at Chahwanda Stadium on Sunday.

In a statement, the Ministry said the incident threatened the safety of players, officials and supporters, while also damaging efforts to restore international football in Zimbabwe. Government urged football fans to uphold peace, discipline and respect for sporting facilities.

The Ministry commended both ZIFA and the PSL for their swift response and called on clubs, supporters, security agencies and communities to work together in protecting sporting infrastructure.

Government says it is awaiting a full report on the matter and expects measures to be taken to prevent similar incidents in future.
