Premier African Minerals says it has completed several critical tests at its Zulu lithium project in Fort Rixon, Matabeleland South Province, marking a major step towards commercial production.

The company said the remaining stage involves hot commissioning of the new spodumene flotation plant and production of saleable concentrate, with the project still on schedule for completion in the second quarter of 2026.

The development comes as Zimbabwe continues positioning itself as a strategic player in the global battery minerals value chain amid rising international demand for lithium.

Lithium has become one of the world’s most sought-after minerals due to its importance in rechargeable batteries used in electric vehicles, mobile devices and renewable energy storage systems.

Demand for the mineral continues to grow as countries and industries accelerate the shift towards clean energy, decarbonisation and green industrialisation.
