Proceedings at the Victoria Falls City Council Chambers were abruptly disrupted during Thursday’s Full Council Meeting following dramatic events that culminated in the arrest of Ward 10 Councillor, Nkanyiso Sibindi.

According to reports, Councillor Sibindi, together with Ward 11 Councillor Danny Moyo and Ward 9 Councillor Mthunzi, had earlier been served with recall letters from the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC). The recalls effectively terminated their positions as party representatives in council.

Tensions escalated when Councillor Sibindi allegedly refused to vacate the chamber after being formally requested to step aside in light of the recall notice. His resistance is said to have caused disorder during the session.

The situation prompted the intervention of the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), who moved in to restore order and subsequently escorted Councillor Sibindi out of the chamber, leading to his arrest.

Authorities have yet to release a full statement on the incident, and further details are expected as investigations continue.

More updates will follow as the story develops.
