Zimbabwe women’s cricket team captain Mary Anne Musonda says his side is ready and confident ahead of the ICC Women’s T20 Cricket World Cup Qualifiers 2024, which will commence this Thursday at United Arab Emirates .
Captain Musonda stated that they are well prepared for the tournament and they need to carry on their winning mentality that saw them prevail in the African games and also outclass Papua New Guinea in the recent ended series.
Speaking ahead of the tournament, Musonda said that they just have to stay focused on their goals and will treat every game the same way, adding that they would not underestimate any of their opponents in the tournament.
“We are in a good place after winning the series against PNG and that has given us good momentum going into the qualifiers and we need to remain focused on what we want to achieve at the end of the tournament,’ said Musonda.
“Despite enjoying a good run of results of late, we need to be aware of the threat posed by other opponents in the upcoming games and we will approach every game as it is regardless of whom we are facing, we need to be on our best form,” added Musonda.
Zimbabwe will face Vanuatu in their first group B game on Thursday before going on to play hosts UAE on the 27th of April. Lady Chevrons will then go on to clash against Ireland on their third game of the tournament on 29th April and will conclude their group stage fixtures against the Netherlands on 1 May.
