55-Year-Old Binga Man Stabs Friend Over Affair Accusation

A 55-year-old man from Binga has been convicted of assault after launching a violent knife attack on a friend who accused him of having an extra-marital affair.
Alec Moyo appeared before the Hwange Magistrates’ Court, where he was sentenced to 16 months imprisonment. Twelve months were suspended for five years on condition of good behavior, while the remaining four months were commuted to 420 hours of community service.
According to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), the incident unfolded late at night following a heated exchange between Moyo and the victim over allegations of infidelity. The victim had reportedly advised Moyo to end an alleged extra-marital affair a suggestion that sparked fury.
Fuelled by rage, Moyo later stormed the complainant’s homestead around 11pm, reignited the confrontation, and stabbed the victim three times, once on the right thigh, once on the right knee, and once on the left thigh.
The victim sustained serious injuries from the attack, prompting Moyo’s arrest.
