BREAKING: Infant Dies During ZIFA Referees’ Training Seminar

The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) has been plunged into mourning following a heartbreaking incident at a referees’ training seminar, where a female participant lost her infant child.

According to ZIFA, the tragedy struck during the course of the day when the woman, who had attended the seminar with her two children, suffered the sudden and unexpected loss of her baby. Despite frantic efforts to render assistance, the infant sadly passed away.

In a statement, ZIFA confirmed that the matter has since been referred to the Zimbabwe Republic Police, who are now handling the case in accordance with the law.

“ZIFA is cooperating fully with the relevant authorities and is extending support to the bereaved mother during this extremely difficult time,” the association said.

The football body also extended its sympathies to the grieving family, stressing the need for privacy.
“As an Association, we extend our deepest condolences to the bereaved family and respectfully ask that their privacy be observed,” ZIFA added.

Funeral arrangements and further updates are expected to be released in due course.
