The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) in Bulawayo have issued a stern warning to men to stop preying on young girls following two recent rape cases involving a 17-year-old and a 10-year-old.

Bulawayo Police Deputy Spokesperson Assistant Inspector Thandekile Ndlovu said such acts are disturbing and unacceptable.

“Communities are supposed to protect children and report offenders”.Ndlovu emphasized

In the first case, a 17-year-old girl from Mguza was raped in Cowdray Park after being followed and dragged into a bush by an unknown man. She managed to escape and reported the attack.

Assistant Inspector Ndlovu also confirmed the second incident where a 10-year-old girl from Tshabalala Extension was sexually assaulted by a 29-year-old man who threatened to kill her if she told anyone. The suspect has since been arrested.

ZRP is reminding the public that child sexual abuse is a serious crime that carries stiff penalties.
