ZIMSEC Announces 2025 Grade 7 Results: Pass Rate Drops Slightly to 48.49%

The Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (ZIMSEC) has officially released the 2025 Grade 7 examination results, with a national pass rate of 48.49%, representing a slight decline from the 49.01% recorded in 2024.
Announcing the results in Harare on Friday, ZIMSEC Board Chairperson Professor Paul Mapfumo said the pass rate reflects a marginal drop of 0.52%, but remains within acceptable performance trends.
Professor Mapfumo praised the continued resilience of learners and teachers, highlighting strong performances in local languages, with Shona and Ndebele scoring 83.09% and 83.31% pass rates respectively.
All other subjects recorded pass rates above 50%, aside from minor declines in Kalanga and Nambia.
Female candidates had a pass rate of 53.64% while male candidates had a pass rate of 43.06%.
Special Needs Candidates had a pass rate of 43.91% up from 37.19% the previous year.
Professor Mapfumo commended all education stakeholders for their efforts, noting that the results demonstrate steady progress despite ongoing challenges in the education sector.
