The Zimbabwe national football team, the Warriors, has departed for Morocco, putting the final touches on preparations for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

Their departure follows a send-off dinner in Harare last week, where senior government officials encouraged the squad ahead of Africa’s biggest football tournament.

ZIFA president Nqobile Magwizi confirmed that President Emmerson Mnangagwa has provided US$400 000 from his office to support the team’s AFCON campaign.

Zimbabwe has been drawn in Group B, alongside Egypt, South Africa, and Angola.

The Warriors open their campaign against Egypt on December 22, before they face Angola on December 26, and will wrap up the group stage games against South Africa on 29 December.

This year’s AFCON will run from 21 December 2025 to 18 January 2026, with the Warriors hoping to make the nation proud.
